ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position on an even time sportsman’s 5,4,5 roster, at our Boddington Bauxite Mine reporting to the Supervisor Drill and Blast.
Please note that accommodation is not provided on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out to site on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Boddington.
As the Operator Shotfirer, you will be responsible to execute mining operations activities according to the operations and blast plan within the requirements of site standards and operating procedures.
You will execute all functions of the appointed shot-firer including safe use of explosives and procedural requirements. Provides guidance, instruction and coaching to the blast operators.
Other key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Control and monitor quality parameters of blasting activities
- Carry out the requirements of the appointed shot-firer
- Ensure that explosives are used in accordance with safe operating practices and site procedures
- Execute the blasting activities according to the schedule, blast plan and supervisor instructions
- Work with all required explosive products and associated tools and equipment, as defined by the operations standards and operating procedures
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Demonstrate commitment to safe work practices and procedures
- Demonstrated experience in blasting (min 2 years)
- Knowledge and responsible use of explosives
- Hold a Western Australian Shot Firers License for surface operation
- Hold a current C class (minimum) driver’s license
- Have been awarded all Primary, Secondary knowledge qualifications where applicable
- Holds a current Dangerous Goods Security Card
