Responsibilities
Present for work in a fit healthy state and inform supervisor of any illness or medication that may impact your fitness for work.
- Attend and contribute at regular safety meetings, conferences, risk assessments and project related meetings as required
- Comply with all relevant Legislation, Codes of Practice, Redpath and client instructions, policies, procedures, specifications, and practices.
- Observe all warning, prohibition and mandatory PPE signs and notices.
- Wear correct personal protective equipment.
- Identify hazards and take corrective actions as appropriate.
- Report all hazards or potential hazards, unsafe or unsatisfactory practices, incidents, personal injury or near misses immediately to your supervisor.
- Take appropriate action in the case of an emergency
- Provide safety leadership by the example you set for the Company
- Participate in accident and incident investigations as required, where necessary lead investigations for more serious events.
- Responsible and accountable for the implementation of safety management systems for domestic projects that Redpath Mining participates in which involves underground works.
- Ensure that the Critical Risk Management system is implemented across international projects.
- Provide health and safety leadership to projects.
- Proactively evaluate the delivery of safety systems to improve the safety systems, outcomes and culture for all employees at all locations. Undertake audits of our systems to identify areas for improvement and management actions required.
- Proactively evaluate our training delivery systems to improve training outcomes and skill transfer. Design training programmes in conjunction with site-based management to improve delivery and scope.
- Ensure full implementation of the Redpath Mining Project Safety Management Plans where applicable.
- Ensure that all new employees to the company are appropriately trained and inducted to enable them to perform their job specific requirements in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure existing employees are appropriately trained for the tasks that they are required to undertake and ensure compliance with Redpath training programs, initiatives and statutory requirements as per applicable mine standards and regulations.
- Ensure continuous improvement by undertaking reviews of Company training programs, procedures and policies as required.
- Implement and maintain effective record keeping and document control procedures to ensure that records are kept, retrievable and in general compliance with the Company Safety Management Plans.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 management system
- Undertake accident and incident investigations as required, ensure that all accidents and incidents are reported and recorded in a timely manner.
