Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Position Reports To: Safety Superintendent
Position Overview
Working closely with the operations, the role of the Emergency Services Coordinator is to promote, coordinate, and implement activities support and maintain the Emergency Response Team and Underground Mine Rescue Team. The incumbent will develop and implement programs and activities necessary to develop the teams’ existing members, attract new recruits and support emergency response plans preparedness. This position is based full-time at the Mine Site and consists of 9.5-hour days on an 5/2,4/3 rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and support the Emergency Response and Mine Rescue Team
- Plan and schedule Emergency Response (ERT) and Mine Rescue (MR) training session
- Promote ERT and MR programs to attract new recruits
- Ensure ERT and MR members maintain compliance with training, physicals and first aid
- Training record retention
- Review the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and associated sub-plans for accuracy and relevance
- Assist in the planning and execution of mock exercises supporting the ERP Crisis Management
- Review and update Confined Space and Rescue Plans
- Support health and safety initiatives
- Annual budgeting for ERT/MR training and equipment needs
- Purchasing and maintaining emergency response supplies and equipment
- Time entry for ERT/MR members’ training and response activities
- Liaise with Ontario Mine Rescues, local Emergency Response branches and members of our Mine Rescue Mutual Aid agreement
- Delivery bi-weekly Emergency Services Capability list to the site operations
- Oversee the maintenance care of the site’s emergency equipment and buildings
Qualifications - Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in emergency services
- Current or past member of a Mine Rescue or Emergency Response team
- NFPA training (or equivalent) would be an asset.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership role overseeing crew or team performance
- Experience working with the Incident Command System
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants as they pertain to underground mining and Mine Rescue
- Strong organization skills with the ability to plan and schedule programs and activities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and Ability to work with Microsoft software including Work, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
- Knowledge and ability to work with INX InControl and INX InTuition
- Ability to function with all levels of the organization with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to train, coach and mentor personnel to achieve a consistent skill level and performance
- Train-the-Trainer certification and/or adult training accreditation will be considered an asset
- CSRP or equivalent is an asset
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $100,000.00 - $130,000.00
