Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Maintenance Planning & Reliability Superintendent, you will play a key role in driving asset reliability, availability, and performance across fixed plant assets. You will provide technical leadership and reliability expertise for fixed plant assets, including crushers, grinding circuits, conveyors, screens, pumps, chutes, thickeners and associated systems. This role supports safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the processing plant through engineering support, defect elimination, maintenance strategy development, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with industry best practices, while consistently promoting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental stewardship.This role requires strong engineering judgment, structured problem-solving, and effective cross-functional collaboration to deliver sustainable reliability improvements and support world-class mining operations.
Safety, Risk & Governance
- Act as a visible safety leader, promoting a culture of zero harm and compliance with all safety, environmental, and engineering standards.
- Participate in risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and critical control verification for high-risk maintenance activities.
- Ensure all engineering solutions comply with regulatory requirements, company standards, and industry best practices.
- Execute the Management of Change (MOC) process for equipment modifications, upgrades, and temporary repairs.
- Develop safe work procedures and engineering standards for fixed plant maintenance activities.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for mill and processing plant equipment, including crushers (jaw, cone), grinding circuits (ball mills), conveyors, screens, slurry pumps, cyclones, chutes, thickeners, among others.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting, failure diagnostics, and engineering support to maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime and production losses.
- Provide support for the defect elimination initiatives through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Bad Actor Programs.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance strategies using Preventive (PM), Predictive (PdM), and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) methodologies.
- Optimize maintenance tactics aligned with production and risk priorities.
- Support vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and condition monitoring programs for critical rotating equipment.
Maintenance Strategy, Planning & Execution Support
- Develop and maintain maintenance strategies and task lists within the CMMS (SAP/JDE or equivalent).
- Review PM effectiveness and optimize intervals based on reliability data and failure modes.
- Provide engineering input for weekly planning, major shutdowns, and annual outages.
- Develop detailed repair scopes and technical work packages, including procedures, lifting plans, tooling requirements, and quality controls.
- Define safe and efficient component replacement methodologies, including complex lifts and constrained-access repairs.
- Conduct equipment condition assessments and develop corrective action plans.
Capital Projects & Operational Readiness
- Support Capex projects through technical evaluations, scope development, and execution readiness.
- Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for engineered equipment and services.
- Ensure operational readiness for new or modified assets, including commissioning, handover, and transition to steady-state operations.
- Support procurement and vendor engagement for engineered or non-standard components.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with Maintenance, Operations, Reliability, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to improve plant performance.
- Provide technical mentoring to engineers-in-training, planners, supervisors, and trades personnel.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, and performance analyses for leadership teams.
- Interface with OEMs and external engineering firms to resolve complex technical issues.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng.) is a requirement for this role
- 5+ years of experience in heavy industrial environments such as Mills: Ball Mill, Jaw & Cone Crusher, Conveyors, Pumps, Chutes, Screens, Thickeners.
- Authorized to review and stamp engineering drawings and technical documents
- Knowledge and experience in proactive maintenance and reliability methodologies.
- Strong technical skills in troubleshooting, reading blueprint and interpreting schematic diagrams.
- Proven expertise in Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, Asset Criticality Assessment (ACA), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Analytical thinking, sense of urgency, attention to detail, and a strong focus on continuous improvement.
- Exposure to project management practices and capital project support.
- Solid understanding of fixed plant assets crushers, grinding circuits, conveyors, screens, pumps, chutes, thickeners and associated systems
- Strong business acumen with the ability to link reliability initiatives to safety, production, and financial outcomes.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with PI Historian / PI Vision and CMMS (SAP/JDE or equivalent).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Advanced knowledge in statistical and probabilistic analysis, as well as engineering economics tools such as NPV, IRR and EAC.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
