Role Overview/Purpose
Reporting to the Metallurgist, the Metallurgical Technician will provide support and technical direction for all metallurgical activities within the Magino mineral processing plant. The role will support in completing the daily metallurgical report, weekly circuit and reagent inventories and support the activities for metallurgical studies, development, testing and analyses of designs, processes and procedures relating to mineral processing and precious metal recovery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for the Metallurgical laboratory and overseeing all Metallurgy and operations testing.
- Prepare and review the Metallurgy lab procedures for approval, and apply them in everyday work.
- Prepare and perform the sampling for mid-month and month end inventory according to its planning.
- Inspect and monitor the process samplers.
- Perform the specific survey to the crushing, grinding, CIP/stripping circuits for KPI validation.
- Validate the accuracy of the equipment measurement, perform the maintenance needed and fill out work orders accordingly.
- Respect the budget and control costs.
- Apply the best metallurgy practices.
- Ensure an effective transfer of information to the cross shift.
- Any other duties required by the Supervisor.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience
- College diploma in metallurgy, material science or equivalent.
- 2 to 5 years of process plant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in metallurgy within a mineral processing plant. EIT’s will be considered for this role.
- Experience in gold processing.
- Solid knowledge of OHS requirements.
- Experience in metallurgical testing and evaluation for grinding, cyanidation, carbon-in-pulp (CIP), cyanide destruction and elution/regeneration.
- Metallurgical accounting process knowledge.
- Tracking and optimization of wear materials.
- Some knowledge of Delta V & PLC’s.
Working Conditions:
- The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 7 days on and 7 off.
