Summary:
The position exists to operate heavy earthmoving equipment in a safe and efficient manner during all phases of mining operations including waste removal, ore extraction, pushbacks, rehabilitation, and other activities as assigned by management.
Responsibilities:
· Operate heavy earth moving equipment such as dozers, graders, excavators, and other heavy equipment used for waste removal, ore extraction, pushbacks, and rehabilitation;
· Conduct pre-shift inspections on all equipment prior to operation ensuring proper operating condition of lights, fire extinguisher, fuel level, oil levels, etc.;
· Keep accurate records of time spent working and on breaks;
· Adhere to safety policies and procedures at all times;
· Assist with repairs to equipment when required;
· Maintain a professional attitude towards supervisors, co-workers, contractors, vendors, visitors, and members of the public;
· Participate in workplace safety meetings and toolbox talks;
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Valid Class A CDL license required;
· Previous experience operating heavy earth moving equipment preferred;
· Must have knowledge of general construction practices, materials, tools, and terminology;
· Ability to perform manual labor tasks;
· Good verbal and written communication skills;
· High school diploma or equivalent GED;
· Willingness to work in a team environment and participate in safety/quality/production improvement initiatives;
· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check;
· Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required;
· Physical ability to perform the essential functions of this job;
· Available for emergency call outs;
· Willingness to work in underground mine environment.
