Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Construction Superintendent, you will be part of the Construction Department. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing projects within the Capital Projects portfolio. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Assist the Construction Superintendent with the management of the Construction Group of the Capital Projects Department;
- Collaborate with Construction Manager to establish construction goals, execution strategies, and safety priorities;
- Provide key expertise to support medium term planning for project; execution identifying construction needs including logistics, equipment, and manpower to ensure that construction progress as per plan;
- In collaboration with the Construction Group, develop and maintain a Project Execution Plan (PEP) and resource loaded schedules including critical path analysis and 3-week lookahead plans;
- Support Construction Superintendent in bid evaluation reviews;
- Meet operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and constructability reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements;
- Meet project budgets and timelines by monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions;
- Accomplish construction project results by contributing to project scope definition: estimating; enforcing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating contractor works; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders;
- Prevent orders and interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, the various regulations and codes;
- Support the Construction Supervisors to maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing safety standards and procedures;
- Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
What You Need To Succeed
- Post-secondary education in Civil/Mechanical/Structural engineering technology preferred; considerable experience in related field will be considered in lieu;
- 5+ years’ experience in managing the execution of medium to large size projects;
- Knowledge of project management techniques (i.e., critical path method, progress measurement and earned value technique) and experience in estimation, cost monitoring, analyzing and reporting is an asset;
- A Trades background will be an asset;
- Good organizational skills are required with attention to details;
- Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines;
- Working knowledge of regular financial and procurement processes, preferably in construction or engineering projects is an asset;
- Solid report writing, communication and presentation skills;
- Effective problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Good work ethic and strong attitude towards safety;
- Sound interpersonal and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team of employees;
- Knowledge of Ontario OH&S Act & Regulations is considered an asset;
- Experience working at a remote work site is considered an asset;
- Experience working in SAP or similar Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
