Your Next Challenge
You will be responsible for designing and maintaining the mine ventilation network to achieve production and development goals, review mine ventilation plans, and ensure the ventilation complies with all applicable regulations. You are also responsible for the configuration and follow up of the ventilation system installed, to provide sufficient airflow to the correct location underground. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Perform air flow, air quality, and temperature measurements and create weekly reports;
- Perform audits on auxiliary ventilation installation quality and recommend improvements;
- Ensure compliance with ventilation related regulatory requirements;
- Design auxiliary ventilation circuits;
- Determine diesel equipment allowances;
- Coordinate dust, silica, asbestos and DMP testing;
- Review methane testing;
- Create and maintain ventilation and U/G emergency related drawings;
- Evaluate future ventilation requirements and develop designs in consultation with relevant parties;
- Perform other tasks as required by the engineering department.
What You Need To Succeed
- Mining Engineering Technician or Technologist Diploma, or Mining Engineering Degree;
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Including Outlook, Excel and Word;
- Ability to work alone for extended periods of time underground;
- Strong communication skills;
- Proficiency with AutoCad, and Amine;
- Accuracy and attention to detail;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Reliable and self-managing;
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment;
- Working knowledge of mine design software is an asset (AutoCAD, Promine, Deswik);
- Knowledge ventilation design software (VentSim);
- Ability to use associated ventilation equipment for underground readings;
- Highly adaptable with a positive disposition toward learning new skills and embracing change.
