Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Director Health & Safety, you will be part of the Health and Safety Department. As a member of the Corporate Health, Safety & Security team, you will offer support for crafting and executing health, safety, and security plans that align with Agnico Eagle's business strategy and journey towards zero accidents, uphold its reputation as a responsible mining company, and nurture a safety-conscious culture. In this capacity, and in collaboration with internal stakeholders, you will monitor, guide, and promote the adoption of best practices related to health, safety, and security throughout the sites, offices and within Agnico. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the health, safety and security strategies, policies and plans for Agnico Eagle;
- Promote leadership, personal commitment, and accountability in the field of health, safety & security;
- Provide specialist technical advice and support to site and project leadership teams with safety systems and legal compliance obligations including, audits, investigations, safe work observations and risk assessments;
- Participate in site/project audits related to corporate compliance;
- Lead site/project assessments and coaching related to quality control in the application of safety systems and programs (e.g. incident investigation, risk assessments, Supervision formula…);
- Promote the development of positive safety behaviours;
- Lead and/or facilitate different periodical projects in the field of Health, Safety and Security such as the Boot in the Field Program, the toward zero accident Initiative, the implementation of the Voluntary Principles in Security, etc;
- Contribute to the implementation, maintenance, audits and updates of emergency response plans (Crisis Management Plan) to eliminate or minimize and mitigate the impacts of unforeseen events;
- Contribute to, and review where necessary, the Risk Monitoring Management System (RMMS);
- Mentor site safety and training personnel in the effective delivery of site safety objectives and targets;
- Represent the company in external committees which are relevant and provide value to the organization;
- Contribute to the “Michel Letourneau Award and Good Move program”;
- Remain current on legislation that may impact operations;
- Participate and contribute to the Health and Safety annual budget and design short term and long-term strategic plans and alignment with the Sustainable Development (SD) Policy;
- Assess potential impacts and risks associated with our activities throughout the life cycle of our projects or operations.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Mining or similar;
- 10 – 15 years of experience in the field of Health and Safety in a management role;
- Self-motivated & team focused;
- Collaborative and a good communicator;
- Analytical with the ability to identify core issues;
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities;
- Work autonomously or in diverse teams to develop solutions;
- Ability to learn and manage self-education;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from our Corporate Office in Toronto, ON. Flexibility to travel as required and manage work across multiple sites and time zones.
