Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Ore Control & Mineral Resource Modeling is a senior technical leadership role responsible for integrating short‑range ore control models, mine‑to‑mill reconciliation, and long‑range mineral resource models across all operating sites. This role ensures alignment between geological interpretation, operational execution, and publicly reported mineral resource outcomes.
The successful candidate will bring deep operational geology experience, strong geostatistical and modeling expertise, and demonstrated Qualified Person (QP) accountability. This role will work closely with site geology teams, mine planning, metallurgy, and corporate technical services to drive continuous improvement in reconciliation performance and mineral resource confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Short‑Range Modeling
- Provide senior technical oversight and guidance for short to medium-range grade control models, including blast hole data integration, definition drilling and sampling, estimation workflows, and geological interpretation.
- Optimize reconciliation practices of ore control models against production across operations.
- Identify and address sources of bias or variance between short to medium-range models, production results, and mill performance, while partnering with the site teams.
Mineral Resource Modeling & Governance
- Provide oversight and technical review of long‑range mineral resource models, ensuring alignment with operational data and reconciliation outcomes.
- Support annual and interim mineral resource updates, including assumptions, estimation methodologies, classification, and documentation.
- Act as a Qualified Person (QP) for mineral resource estimates and technical disclosures, as required.
- Ensure mineral resource models are compliant with applicable reporting standards (e.g., S‑K 1300, NI 43‑101, as applicable).
Geostatistics & Technical Excellence
- Lead and review geostatistical analyses, including variography, domaining strategies, estimation methodologies, and model validation.
- Drive continuous improvement in modeling workflows, reconciliation methodologies, and integration of operational data.
- Evaluate and implement best‑practice tools, software, and technologies for ore control and mineral resource modeling.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide functional leadership and mentorship to site‑based and corporate geologists.
- Serve as a key interface between geology, mine planning, metallurgy, and operations.
- Support internal and external technical reviews, audits, and due diligence activities.
- Contribute to long‑term geological strategy and capability development across the organization
Required
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related discipline.
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience in mine geology, ore control, and mineral resource modeling.
- Significant operational experience in active mining environments (open pit and/or underground).
- Demonstrated experience with mine‑to‑mill reconciliation and integration of production data.
- Strong geostatistics background, including variography, estimation, and model validation.
- Recognized Qualified Person (QP) status under applicable reporting codes.
- Proven experience working across multiple sites and influencing without direct authority.
- Advanced proficiency with industry‑standard geological and modeling software.
Preferred
- Experience in precious metals operations.
- Prior accountability for public mineral resource disclosure.
- Experience leading corporate‑level technical initiatives or standards.
Key Attributes for Success
- Strong technical judgment combined with practical operational mindset.
- Ability to bridge short‑term operational needs with long‑term mineral resource integrity.
