Role Overview/Purpose
Reporting to the Dewatering Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Operator (Dewatering)’s key responsibilities are the safe, efficient and productive operation of support equipment in a complex mining environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Inspection of equipment before and after use to ensure proper functionality
- Loading, unloading, and moving materials to appropriate storage areas
- Excavation of trenches for buried services
- Following all safety procedures while operating equipment
- Performing regular maintenance (refuelling, fluid checks, lubrication) and minor repairs when necessary
- Reporting equipment issues, unusual conditions, and spillage immediately to Supervisor
- Staging materials to be brought down for Underground Operations
- Emptying garbage bins
- Maintaining good housekeeping at storage areas
- Snow removal during winter months
- Other activities as assigned
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience
- Possess a valid Canadian driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as heavy equipment operator (excavator, loader, and forklift)
- Slinging and rigging training
- Ability to identify difference between normal wear, unusual wear and damage
- Knowledge of WHMIS, including familiarity with chemical products’ use, disposal and safety data sheet applications
- Completed secondary school or GED
- A commitment to health, safety, environment, and community
- Works effectively independently and collaboratively
- Ability to thrive in an environment of change; must be creative and flexible
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, 7x7 schedule
- Position is subject to callouts
Physical Requirements
- Role is physically demanding
- Must be capable of working in adverse conditions and inclement weather
- Must be capable of lifting/carrying up to 25 kg, walking on rough terrain, standing for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, operating equipment
- Pay or shift range: $34.98 CAD to $59.53 CAD
