OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
To provide expert technical leadership, strategic direction, and governance for all Safety (S), Environment (E), and Industrial Hygiene (IH) programs, working in close collaboration with the Assurance Compliance Team to ensure robust compliance, effective risk management, and continuous improvement across all operational areas. (including NNRC standards) and drives continuous improvement in risk management and performance across all operational areas.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Collaborate proactively with the Assurance Compliance Team to ensure alignment with internal and external audit requirements, regulatory standards, EHSS Management System
- Implement and maintain Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programs, including Industrial Hygiene, hazard identification, and risk control measures.
- Ensure alignment with Ma’aden EHSS Management System and applicable legal requirements
- Lead the periodic review and revision of high-level HSE policies, standards, and procedures to align with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
- Develop Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards, programs, plans, and strategies.
- Conduct and oversee assessments for physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and environmental hazard
- Familiarity with NNRC (National Nuclear and Radiological Control) standards and nuclear radiation risk management.
- Recommend and verify engineering, administrative, PPE, and environmental controls for risk mitigation.
- Act as the organization's subject matter expert for complex HSE topics, including major accident hazards and environmental incidents.
- Develop and execute monitoring plans for workplace exposures, safety performance, and environmental compliance.
- Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of compliance audits, environmental monitoring, and corrective actions.
- Analyze trends and implement preventive measures; drive continuous improvement initiatives for HSE performance.
- Develop and monitor the execution of corrective and preventative actions derived from incident investigations, audits, and environmental assessments.
- Work closely with operations, medical services, EHSS, and environmental teams to integrate HSE into business processes.
- Deliver training and coaching to employees and supervisors on HSE and IH standards; promote a strong safety and environmental culture through engagement and communication.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related Engineering discipline.
Certification: Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) certification or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
8+ years of progressive professional experience in Safety and Environmental management, with a minimum of 3 years in a technical lead or senior advisory role within a heavy industrial setting (e.g., mining, chemical, or aluminum).
Skills:
- Deep understanding of global EHSS regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in developing and auditing H&S Management Systems.
