The Support and Development Center provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, supply chain, human resources, communications, construction as well as technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, infrastructure, marketing, innovation, and digital transformation).
Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, you will play a key role in the development, compliance, and evolution of geological models and mineral resource estimates. You will support all stages related to resource estimation for one or more AEM projects. You are curious, methodical, an effective communicator, and enjoy working in a variety of geological environments.
As a Resource Geology Expert, you will collaborate with other team members who are specialists in their respective disciplines (database management, 3D modelling, interpolation, geometallurgy) to deliver high-quality mineral resources using industry best practices. You will also guide multidisciplinary teams in understanding mineralized systems. Acting as an internal reference, you will actively contribute to the development of geologists and technicians within the team, as well as to the continuous improvement of modelling and resource estimation processes.
You will be involved in supporting corporate strategic initiatives aimed at continuously improving resource estimation processes and may also assist various AEM operations on specific mandates. Working within Technical Services offers a wide range of challenges, placing you at the forefront of new methodologies while having a direct impact on corporate development. You may be required to work on advanced exploration projects, open-pit mines, and underground mines located in various regions or countries.
- Acting as a Qualified Person (QP) for one or more Agnico Eagle projects;
- Performing or supervising 3D modelling, geostatistical analysis, and the development of estimation parameters;
- Participating in or supervising the preparation of technical studies (preliminary, pre-feasibility, and feasibility) and drafting NI 43-101 compliant technical reports;
- Contributing to the design, review, and strategic development of litho-structural models supporting the interpretation of mineralized systems;
- Collaborating effectively with members of the Geology team to deliver robust and high-quality block models;
- Coaching and supporting the development of geologists within the team;
- Serving as an internal reference in modelling, geostatistics, and resource estimation;
- Participating in innovation projects or project evaluations.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering;
- Master’s Degree is considered an asset;
- 15 to 20 years of experience in the mining industry, including at least 10 years as a Resource Geologist;
- Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des Géologues du Québec (OGQ) or the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
- Be qualified to sign as a Qualified Person (QP) in accordance with NI 43-101 standards;
- Proficiency in Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, Leapfrog Edge, and Supervisor software is considered a significant asset;
- French proficiency, both oral and written, would be an asset;
- Have a good command of the English language, as the role involves collaboration with other Agnico Eagle sites where English is the primary working language.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.
- Workplace: The role is primarily based out of one of AEM’s offices, such as Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d’Or, Toronto, Sudbury, or Mirabel. There is a possibility to have a hybrid work schedule, working some days from an AEM office and some days in telecommuting.
- If the assigned office is located outside the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, regular presence in the region and at the CSD Preissac office will be required.
