Reporting to the Senior Accountant - Taxation, you will be responsible for ensuring that the company comply with tax and commercial obligations and provide high quality tax and commercial input to the Company’s affairs .
Your Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
- Ensure that all tax returns are accurately prepared and adequately supported and corresponding payments due are submitted on time.
- Ensure proper record management of all tax related documents and files.
- Assist in the month-end and year end closure processes.
- Ensure the accurate and timely reconciliation of general ledgers. Following up on reconciling items and closing out unresolved items.
- Assist the Senior Accountant in coordinating audits.
- Coordinate the appointment process of our tax agent by non-resident service suppliers/consultants and the re-issuing of tax invoices by the Tax Agent to minimize the exposure of Reverse VAT
- Assist with the review of customs entries, preparation of payment schedules and ensure that all customs payments are paid on time. Additionally, you will be required to clear customs payments appearing on our Bank statements from the Bank to the appropriate general ledgers
- Be involved in identifying key controls and efficiency opportunities and assist mitigate risk.
- Stay abreast of tax-related technical issues, changes in the law and the tax environment. Assist with preparing written correspondence and other documents for submission to various company stakeholders.
- Providing support to the Finance and Supply Chain teams in areas of tax compliance, reviewing certain key business transactions and ensuring that the relevant documentation is always maintained for tax purposes.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade 12 certificate
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Professional Accounting Certification (e.g. ACCA, ZICA, CIMA) will be an advantage.
- A member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
- Good computer skills with the ability to use ERP systems and Microsoft office suit applications.
