Your Impact
The Chemist / Senior Chemist plays a critical role in delivering high-quality analytical chemistry solutions to support technical and project-based work across the business. This role is responsible for advanced chemical analysis, method development, data interpretation, and scientific oversight within the laboratory. This role provides leadership in experimental design, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and mentoring while supporting research, production, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives
You will serve as a subject‑matter expert in ICP instrumentation and complementary analytical methods, supporting environmental and mining initiatives while collaborating with internal teams to advance analytical capabilities and strengthen data‑driven decisions.
As Part of Our Team, You Will
- Execute and oversee advanced analytical chemistry testing using ICP instrumentation and related analytical methods .
- Develop and implement new analytical methods, particularly for trace elements and environmental samples.
- Ensure QA/QC compliance by reviewing data and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
- Coordinate laboratory workflows to optimize efficiency and data quality.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to lab operators and junior chemists.
- Manage project-based analytical work including environmental and mining studies.
- Prepare technical reports and communicate results effectively.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in laboratory performance and methods.
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Postgraduate studies preferred.
- Strong experience with ICP instrumentation with a preferred background in MS and trace element analyses.
- Experience in analytical method development and QA/QC processes.
- Background in environmental, water, or mining-related projects is desirable.
- Strong data interpretation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage priorities and projects effectively.
Your Work Environment
You will work on-site at our Denver laboratory (MTF), ON 9x8 schedule collaborating with a team of chemists and laboratory operators while supporting broader technical and project teams. The role operates in a structured lab environment focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $USD 86,500 - USD 115,300. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
