OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
Provide first-line technical and geological data management support by ensuring accurate capture, validation, maintenance, and reporting of exploration and mineral resource data in compliance with AngloGold Ashanti standards and Mineral Resource estimation requirements, maintaining data integrity, security, and auditability to enable reliable resource estimation and decision-making.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure SOX-aligned data authorization and locking controls.
- Validate and review geological data from Exploration, Grade Control, and Geotechnical teams; reject invalid datasets and coordinate corrections.
- Conduct weekly and monthly database audits and produce reports on discrepancies and corrective actions.
- Verify and reconcile assay submissions; import verified results per protocols and maintain reconciliation logs and QA/QC reviews.
- Administer and maintain geological database systems (e.g., Fusion, Datamine), including installations, upgrades, backups, version control, and data locking; coordinate with IT and vendors to resolve issues.
- Provide training and technical support, maintain SOPs and documentation, and contribute to database improvements and projects.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Minimum of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) and Diploma in Geology/ICT.
- Certification in Database Management, Data Science, or Geoinformatics.
Experience
- Minimum of 2–3 years in geological database management or a similar role in the mining industry.
- Proven experience with geological database software, preferably Fusion and Datamine.
- Experience in data validation, quality control, and compliance with SOX or similar standards.
- Experience training or coaching end-users on database systems (highly desirable).
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with geological database software (Fusion, Datamine, or similar) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Understanding of database management principles, data integrity, validation, reconciliation, and assay data import protocols.
- Troubleshooting skills and ability to perform software installations/upgrades; basic SQL or query language knowledge (preferred).
- Good understanding of HSE standards; strong organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively; willingness to liaise with vendors; physically fit for a mining environment.
- Ability to train and coach users; proactive approach to continuous improvement; Tanzanian citizen.
