About The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a
Integrated Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Lead to join our Langeloth Metallurgical Facility in Langeloth, PA. In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for owning the end-to-end Integrated Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process for the Langeloth molybdenum business, delivering a single integrated constraint-based plan that aligns supply, production, inventory, and demand decisions across the value chain.
The position leads cross-functional planning governance, scenario analysis, and decision support over short- and medium-term horizons, ensuring that commercial, operational, and financial trade-offs are visible and managed in a disciplined way. The role acts as the process owner for S&OP and the supporting planning model, incorporating feed quality, yield assumptions, inventory strategy, and processing constraints while developing planning capabilities, facilitating decision forums, and strengthening the link between operational plans and business value.
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
S&OP Process Ownership & Governance
- Lead the monthly Integrated S&OP cycle, including supply review, demand review, integrated reconciliation, management review, and plan lock.
- Establish and support weekly execution forums (e.g., backlog reviews) to monitor performance, manage short-term imbalances, and ensure alignment with the agreed S&OP plan.
- Ensure adherence to planning cadence and governance.
- Maintain a “single source of truth” planning model.
Integrated Planning
- Own development and maintenance of the integrated planning horizon, including near-term 13-week operational planning visibility and the 12-month longer-term supply, production, inventory, and sales outlook.
- Balance supply and quality (concentrate sourcing), production capacity (in coordination with production planning function) and customer demand and allocation.
- Define and manage inventory positioning across feedstock, work-in-process, and finished goods to balance service, working capital, and operational flexibility.
- Integrate feed quality, yield assumptions, and processing constraints into planning outputs and inventory planning decisions.
- Ensure alignment between S&OP plans and short-term production scheduling, and lead cross-functional alignment across Commercial, Operations, Logistics, Procurement, Quality, and Finance to establish a single agreed operating plan.
Scenario Planning & Decision Support
- Develop and run scenario analyses to evaluate supply disruptions, capacity constraints, demand changes, regional allocation options.
- Support key trade-offs analysis, including product mix optimization, customer allocation, or Convert vs sell decisions.
- Incorporate margin and profitability implications into trade-off evaluations.
- Translate planning outputs into decision support for management, including implications for customer service, inventory, working capital, margin, and operational risk.
Demand & Commercial Integration
- Partner with Commercial to ensure clarity in demand inputs, including contractual vs. spot demand and regional market conditions.
- Support customer prioritization and allocation frameworks under constrained conditions.
- Ensure demand assumptions are aligned with commercial strategy and operational feasibility.
Performance Management & KPIs
- Track and report key planning KPIs, including forecast accuracy, capacity utilization, fill rate, inventory levels, working capital turns, contribution margin and service performance.
- Track S&OP plans versus execution.
- Lead variance analysis across supply, production, and sales.
Planning Model Ownership
- Own the planning model, planning assumptions, and supporting datasets, ensuring they remain accurate, controlled, auditable, and fit for decision-making.
- Establish and maintain S&OP governance, planning cadence, meeting materials, decision rights, and escalation thresholds.
- Lead continuous improvement of integrated planning processes, systems, data quality, and reporting tools to reduce reliance on fragmented spreadsheets and manual workarounds.
- Drive evolution toward more integrated planning and scenario modeling tools where appropriate.
- Supervise and develop planning resources, including the Production Planning Analyst, while promoting strong cross-functional collaboration and process discipline.
About You
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, operations, finance, business, or a related field (metallurgy or processing disciplines are also considered an asset).
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in integrated planning, supply chain planning, operations planning, commercial planning, or related cross-functional planning roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading or operating within an S&OP, IBP, or integrated planning environment.
- Strong understanding of the interaction between supply, production, inventory, customer commitments, and financial outcomes, including raw material variability and processing constraints.
- Proven ability to facilitate cross-functional decision-making, manage trade-offs, and influence stakeholders without relying solely on formal authority.
- Strong analytical capability, including scenario analysis, KPI development, variance analysis, and use of planning models to support decisions.
- Advanced Excel skills required; experience with SAP, planning systems, Power BI, or similar reporting / planning tools is strongly preferred. Experience with optimization or advanced planning tools is an asset.
- Experience in mining, metals, industrial processing, manufacturing, or complex supply chain environments is considered an asset.
