VIDEO: How Caterpillar dominates
A cool animated video (no embed available) illustrates the high perch Caterpillar has built itself above the resource and construction equipment sector.
Some highlights from the Bloomberg video are the following:
- Caterpillar has doubled in size every 10 years
- Since its inception in 1925, CAT has posted only 6 years of annual loses
- CAT’s largest machine, the 8750 Dragline, is longer than a football field and costs roughly US$150 million
- A CAT engine supplied power to the 1969 Apollo 11 moon mission and NASA has recently asked the company to help build a landing strip and a remote control lunar truck
