Antofagasta submits “Oxidos Encuentro” project for environmental approval in Chile

Antofagasta Minerlas has formally submitted its “Oxidos Encuentro” project for environmental approval in Chile.  The project, to be located in Sierra Gorda, Chile, will involve an investment of $600 million.

The company plans to being construction works in 2014 and to initiate production in 2016.

The open-pit mine is forecasted to produce 50,000 tons of copper cathodes per year for a period of eighty years.
