Commercial company Rio Tinto Alcan is to continue its funding contributions towards a Kakapo recovery programme. Since 1990 the firm's contributed over $4.7 million to a Department of Conservation partnership programme. The Kakapo also called owl parrot, is a species of large, flightless nocturnal parrot.
