Hudbay Minerals (TSX, NYSE: HBM) has resumed operations at its Constancia mine in Peru, two weeks after halting output due to local protests and blockades that disrupted access to the site.

The Canadian copper miner said a 20,000-metric-tonne concentrate shipment originally scheduled for late September had been delayed to early October because of transport disruptions and adverse ocean conditions.

The delay will temporarily reduce third-quarter sales volumes, it noted.

During the shutdown, Hudbay carried out preventive maintenance on the mill and mining equipment. The company added that its workforce is returning to normal levels in the coming days.

Following the update, Hudbay shares rose 1.3% in New York, giving the company a market capitalization of approximately $6.3 billion.
