InfiniTEM® breaks ground in India
Abitibi Geophysics recently granted an InfiniTEM® operating licence for the Indian market to FUGRO Nexterra (an international geophysical services company). InfiniTEM® geophysical surveys are currently underway on mining exploration projects in India.
This licence was granted to FUGRO Nexterra following the patent approval for InfiniTEM® – an electromagnetic geophysical survey technology developed by Abitibi Geophysics, which now holds patents in Canada, USA, Peru, Morocco, Russia, Australia and India.
InfiniTEM® is a time-domain electromagnetic loop configuration that detects conductive mineralization at significant depths (greater than 500 metres). InfiniTEM® is designed to provide maximum coupling with steeply dipping targets and minimum coupling from overburden such as conductive clays.
When the InfiniTEM® configuration is combined with cutting edge instrumentation (sensor, receiver and transmitter) it has detected conductors where conventional configurations were unable to detect conductors.
This innovative configuration was developed in collaboration with SOQUEM, a Quebec-based mining and exploration company, with support from Canada Economic Development and Canadian National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program.
