Key Accountabilities
The general, Compliance and other duties of the Manager, Study Assurance and Project Governance, include:
- Monitors work delivered by al the department staff, external consultants, and service providers for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and Ma’aden Standards and project specific requirements.
- Assists coordination the execution, schedule, costing, estimating and scoping strategies for proposed projects and in the development and preparation of project specific documentation, standards, and specifications.
- Assists with the management of the SPD department. This includes strategic planning, budgets, staff requirements, work schedules, and the preparation of progress and management reports, and meeting Department and BU goals and KPIs.
- Monitors that departmental Approvals and Execution are as per the official Corporate and BM&NM SBU authority matrix.
- Assists with the scoping and preparation of tenders to appoint consultants to assist SPD with project studies; assists with the appointment and management of consultants, including monitoring progress and the
- adherence to requirements of contract obligation.
- Ensure that design packages, plans and specifications, reports, and other engineering deliverables for projects, engineered systems, technical equipment and infrastructure received from consultants are validated.
- Reviews or actions the checking of staff computations, quantity take-offs and cost estimates, reports, and other engineering deliverables.
- Oversees project scheduling and progress measurement for internal and external SPD studies and projects.
- Oversees the management of project documentation. Coordinate and assist in the establishment and management of a document control system using the designated corporate EDMS (Aconex)
- Conducts or actions Value Engineering, HAZOP or similar studies and reviews at appropriate stages in the development of project studies.
- Promotes safety, and safety-in-design for all studies and for projects executed by SPD and for all other SPD activities.
- Responsible for Risk Management for SPD. Assists with project risk management and ensures that risks identified are addressed in the engineering design.
- Procedures, Standards and Specifications: coordinates with and assists the PDE to ensure that the required project and study standards and
- specifications are in place and maintained regularly; and assist the Department Management in development, reviewing, improvement and implementing of policies, procedures, systems and programs relating to the activities of the department.
- Promotes and ensures adherence to the corporate policies and procedures (HR, Procurement, Financials, HSE) and management systems (MSHEM and MCIS)
- Oversees the monitoring and auditing activities of subordinate staff, providing guidance, mentoring, training, and instruction to support their career development goals and meet their KPIs.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Mandatory bachelor’s degree in engineering
Additional qualifications, training and/or experience in QA/QC, Risk Management, Project and Engineering Management and Controls, and digitization are required.
Minimum Experience
- At least 10 to 15 years project, studies, with a preference for specific experience in the development and verification of base metals and minerals projects in terms of sustainability, feasibility, and corporate strategy.
- Computer literate, with a working knowledge of scheduling and engineering software, and corporate enterprise systems.
- Proficient in English, both for verbal and written communications. Multiple language skills will be appreciated.
