Reporting to the Coordinator – Apprenticeship and Graduates , you will be responsible for delivering foundational engineering education for apprentices to support safe and effective technical work in the workshop and on site. The role typically covers teaching core principles such as measurement, mechanics, materials and metallurgy basics, thermodynamics, fluids, basic electricity/electronics and engineering technology concepts tied to the specific trade
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following :
- Develop a structured engineering science learning pathway aligned to apprenticeship levels, trade requirements, and institutional/industry standards.
- Deliver lessons and demonstrations in measurements, mechanics, materials, thermodynamics/fluids, and basic electrical/electronics
- Create tests, assignments, practical tasks, and rubrics to assess understanding and application; document results and competence progression.
- Translate engineering science concepts into job-relevant learning using real equipment, jobs, and case studies; coordinate with workshop/site teams.
- Prepare learner guides, lesson plans, simulations, problem sets, and practical worksheets; keep content current and consistent.
- Identify learning gaps early and provide tutoring, catch-up sessions, and individualized learning plans for struggling apprentices.
- Maintain training records, competency matrices, attendance, and performance reports for apprentices and management, TEVET stakeholders.
- Review learner outcomes, feedback, and workplace performance indicators to improve delivery methods, assessments, and content.
- Ensure training tools, lab/workshop setups, and materials are available, fit-for-purpose, and used safely.
- Liaise with supervisors, engineers, to ensure alignment, standards adherence, and audit readiness
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 Full Certificate
- Minimum Diploma In Science Education from a recognised learning institution.
- Diploma in Teaching Methodology from a recognised learning institution
- Minimum 2 years’ work experience in a similar role.
