Your Next Challenge
- Provide effective and efficient leadership for Upper Beavers Mine Rescue and Emergency Response Teams;
- Respond to all emergencies listed, but not limited to: Fires (surface and underground), Hazmat, Medical, Technical Rescue, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Alarm investigations;
- Act as an advisor in support of the site Emergency Response Control Group;
- Establish and prioritize departmental goals and objectives which align with Management mission and vision;
- Ensure the safety and well being of all emergency response team personnel and site personnel;
- Maintaining site emergency response tools, equipment, vehicles, and emergency apparatus;
- Preparation of administrative reports, training records and data input;
- Preparing briefing notes, correspondence and providing advice, consultation and communications to Operational Leadership Team on matters concerning emergency management programs as they relate to on site emergencies;
- Build, maintain and update the design of departmental Standard;
- Act in the role of Training officer to plan, teach and implement emergency response courses & training sessions;
- Providing expertise in designing, developing and conducting site based mock emergency exercises to ensure an acceptable level of readiness;
- Analyzing the risks of various practices and their relevance to the mine site, and presenting recommendations to Management for consideration and implementation;
- Participating in post-event reviews of mock and real emergencies/disasters, to understand the scope of event/problems; identify and assess lessons learned and report back to management; develop and evaluate recommendations; and plan and coordinate follow up action items;
- Complete pre-incident planning for emergency response tactics and readiness;
- Complete various fire code and building safety inspections;
- Participate in daily safety toolbox talks in support of a healthy safety culture;
- Assist with Emergency Response protocols, scene management, interviews, and obtaining all facts for review by Management;
- Conduct all other required tasks as requested pertaining to emergency response
What You Need To Succeed
- Degree or Diploma in a Health and Safety related discipline;
- 10 years’ of experience in a health and safety role within the mining sector;
- Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and construction & mining regulations;
- Ontario Mining Supervisor Common Core training;
- Experience with HSE management system software (Intelex, E-compliance, ICAM investigation methodology);
- Experience with the implementation and monitoring of industrial hygiene programs;
- Experience with Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM), the International Cyanide management Code and ISO 45001 are considered assets.
- Underground experience in an underground operating mine would be a valued asset
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 5-2 (8 hours per day) or 4-3 (10 hours per day) at our Upper Beaver project site in Dobie, ON.
