Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Mine Supervisor, you will be part of the Mine Operations Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Adhering to all legislated mining regulations and performing the role safely; ensuring Health & Safety is the number one priority;
- Following all procedures, policies and processes at the mine site and underground workplace;
- Scale loose rocks; while having the ability to recognize and/or recommend to the mine department that they re-evaluate the area for ground conditions to ensure overall safety in specific work area;
- Installation or repair of mine services and installations in an underground mining environment;
- Operating various pieces of underground mining equipment which could include scissor decks, aerial work platforms, telehandlers, boom trucks, trans-mixers, shotcrete sprayers LHD’s and other light vehicles;
- Read, understand, and interpret blueprints as well as rebar schematics to determine specifications and calculate requirements;
- Installation of compressed air lines, process and dewater lines, ventilation fans and hard duct, pumps, miscellaneous construction work with steel and or concrete and other tasks as assigned;
- Perform concrete work, and specialized ground support, forming, vent doors, walls, and refuge stations;
- Other mining and construction related tasks as required.
What You Need To Succeed
- Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs on a regular basis;
- Ability to operate LHD’s, Scissor Lifts, Forklifts, Zoom Booms & PC’s;
- Ability to operate both Shotcrete Pot and Nozzle;
- Experience with pressure grouting;
- Operate hand-held drills such as jacklegs and stoppers;
- Previous experience installing ground support considered an Asset;
- Comprehension reading work instructions with good literacy and numeracy skills (this includes the ability to fill shift reports, documenting work completed);
- Proficient in the use of Oxy/Ace cutting and SMAW welding processes, considered an asset;
- Possession of a valid CWB ticket, considered an asset;
- Have a strong safety ethic and be able to work collaboratively with other trades personnel and crew members, as well as work independently often with little or no supervision;
- Full Underground Basic Common Core is an asset;
- Longhole loading and blasting is considered an asset.
