Job title: Specialist, Training, eLearning & Safety Compliances

Position reports to: Senior Specialist, Training, Administration
Purpose
To develop SCORM compliant online courses using e-learning authoring tools. Delivering and monitoring training using e-learning platforms that enable efficient management of staff, competencies and compliances. Responsible for on-going maintenance and the refreshing of existing course catalogue.
Key Responsibilities
The holder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Instructional Design & Content Development
- Design and develop e-Learning courses using tools such as Articulate 360 and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Define clear learning objectives, create storyboards, develop assessments, and produce instructional and support materials.
- Copy-edit all content to ensure accuracy, consistency, clarity, and appropriate instructional tone.
- Ensure the quality, relevance, and ongoing maintenance of course content in consultation with key stakeholders.
Creative & Graphics in e-Learning
- Apply creative design and graphics to enhance learner engagement, clarify content, improve knowledge retention, enhance usability, and humanize the learning experience.
- Use visuals, graphics, animations, diagrams, flowcharts, and scenarios to simplify complex or abstract concepts.
- Design learning materials that support different learning styles:
- Visual learners: images, icons, videos
- Kinaesthetic learners: interactive visuals, simulations
- Auditory learners: audio-supported learning where applicable
Learner Engagement & User Experience
- Create engaging, interactive, and visually appealing courses that capture attention and reduce learner monotony.
- Ensure courses are intuitive, accessible, instructional, and enjoyable to complete.
- Facilitate eLearning sessions where required and provide learner assistance and support.
Training Needs Analysis & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Identify training deficiencies and determine when new training programs are required.
- Identify technology and skills gaps and recommend appropriate learning solutions.
- Collaborate with requestors and stakeholders to understand training needs and recommend the most effective multimedia and instructional approaches.
- Work closely with eLearning team members, users, and company stakeholders to meet learning objectives and organizational requirements.
LMS, Reporting & Data Management
- Provide timely and efficient user support for the Training Management System (TMS) and training databases.
- Deliver initial and refresher training for TMS users.
- Maintain training data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
- Create, maintain, and distribute course and training reports.
- Provide regular management reports to support oversight and ensure compliance with established training standards.
- Ensure course technology suitability and ongoing system compatibility.
Additional Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate teaching aids, including outlines, handouts, instructions, and reference materials.
- Enhance personnel capability in using available eLearning technologies through targeted training programs.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Full grade twelve (G12) school certificate.
- Diploma in Creative Digital Media
- Degree in Computer Science, multi-media design, information technology or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Diploma in Teaching Methodology
- All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
Experience
- Experience in the mining, processing and smelting industries to enable development of accurate and relevant training material.
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Training Records Systems such as INX InTuition, Docuware.
