Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Geology General Supervisor, you will be part of the Geology Department. You will play a key role in the management of the mine exploration (MinEx) team and in developing strategies to renew/increase the mineral resources of Amaruq both for the open pit and the underground operations. You will ensure that the department goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Prepare short and long-term drilling schedules to provide timely drill plans for both surface and underground drilling;
- Experience supervising directional drilling programs (Devico);
- Collect, document and interpret geological data to assist in the creation of robust 3D geological models for the resource estimation of operations and development projects;
- Contribute to identifying ore controls and ensure that they are appropriately integrated into the estimation processes;
- Assist the company’s 3D modelling and resource geologists and/or resource consultants during resource estimation exercises;
- Monitor and supervise drilling contractors to ensure that safety, production and reporting requirements are met;
- Work closely with other members of the geology team to generate drill targets to validate and expand gold resources;
- Monitor and compile incoming drilling data, set priorities to process as required by the mining geologists;
- Ensure that all drill data is suitably transferred and validated as well as securely retained in the geological database;
- Ensure that all QAQC data verifications are performed and appropriate corrective measures are taken;
- Prepare and track regular budgets for the Mine Exploration team;
- Participate and review LOM & budget exercises;
- Provide technical expertise and training to the Geology staff and contractors;
- Attend and participate in meetings as required;
- Prepare reports (weekly / monthly /quarterly and yearly) as required;
- Ensure that all company safety and environmental policies are adhered to by staff and contractors.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering from a recognized institution;
- 8-10 years of experience in exploration, preferably in gold mining;
- Experience in production is considered an asset;
- Proficiency in geological mining software (Datamine-Studio RM, DHLogger/Fusion, Deswik, LeapFrog and ArcGIS software);
- Understanding of open pit and underground mining is considered an asset;
- Knowledge of the principles of database management;
- Must belong or eligible to join a recognized Canadian professional association;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
