We are hiring an Energy Markets Analyst to join a European energy management team, based in Hamburg or Paris.
This role sits within the Energy Management Europe function and reports to the Head of Energy Management Europe. The position plays a key role in supporting commercial growth and the market integration of energy storage assets, with a strong focus on German & French power markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Support commercial development and expansion by combining power market expertise with quantitative analysis
- Develop and maintain expertise on European regulatory frameworks and electricity market structures (energy, capacity, reserve, and balancing markets)
- Participate in regulatory and industry meetings with key stakeholders (TSOs, DSOs, traders, associations, etc.)
- Analyse market fundamentals, regulatory changes, and trends to define go-to-market strategies for energy storage assets
- Deliver long-term power market analysis using external scenarios and internal models
- Build optimisation and modelling tools and deliver data-driven insights in collaboration with quantitative engineering teams
- Translate quantitative analysis and market knowledge into strategic and commercial recommendations
- Support customer contractual discussions alongside local development teams
Market Operations & Asset Strategy
- Build market operation frameworks for a pipeline of storage assets in advanced development or construction
- Analyse market access and organisational requirements (wholesale and balancing markets, balancing responsibility, TSO interfaces)
- Define trading and bidding strategies for storage assets in collaboration with quantitative teams
- Define day-to-day operational processes
- Review and challenge third-party optimisation of battery energy storage systems (BESS)
Candidate Profile
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Applied Mathematics, Finance, Data Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in the energy sector
- Strong knowledge of German & French electricity markets, particularly intraday trading
- Strong analytical skills; experience with optimisation and data science is a plus
- Proficiency in Python (experience with ML libraries such as Scikit-Learn or Keras is an advantage)
- Fluent in English and German; French is a plus
