Superintendent – Sulphuric Acid & Power Utilities
Role Purpose
To lead the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the Sulphuric Acid Plant and Power & Utilities facilities and lead during commissioning, start-up, ramp-up, and steady-state operations.
Accountable for operational readiness, production performance, asset integrity, regulatory compliance, and people development aligned with Maaden values.
Key Accountabilities
1. Safety & Compliance
- Drive Zero Harm culture and ensure MSHEM compliance.
- Ensure environmental compliance (SO₂, acid mist, effluent, stack emissions).
- Lead PSSR, HAZOP close-out and startup safety reviews.
2. Commissioning & Start-Up Leadership
- Lead operations input during pre-commissioning & commissioning.
- Validate SOPs, SMPs, startup/shutdown procedures.
- Ensure manpower readiness and competency certification.
- Coordinate seamless handover from Project & ORT to Operations.
3. Production & Reliability Performance
- Deliver Acid production, Power,water and steam generation targets.
- Optimize converter efficiency, heat recovery, energy balance.
- Ensure reliability of the Plant and all critical equipment’s.
- Improve plant availability and reduce forced outages.
- Support RBI, inspection and turnaround planning.
- Ensure readiness of critical rotating and static equipment.
5. Leadership & People Development
- Lead shift supervisors, engineers and operators.
- Drive competency matrix, succession planning and coaching.
- Promote ownership culture and cross-functional collaboration.
6. Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization
- Drive energy efficiency and steam optimization initiatives.
- Reduce chemical consumption and operational losses.
Qualifications & Experience
- 12–18 years in Sulphuric Acid & Utilities operations.
- Minimum 5 years in supervisory role.
Experience in new plant commissioning and DCDA process preferred
