What we are looking for!
As a Structural Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting safe and efficient mining operations by delivering high-quality structural designs, engineering calculations, inspections, and risk assessments across surface mine infrastructure. Working closely with maintenance, operations, and business partners, you will provide clear technical guidance, contribute to continuous improvement, and uphold a strong safety-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering structural designs, engineering calculations, and technical documentation for surface mining infrastructure, ensuring integrity, stability, and regulatory compliance.
- Conducting structural inspections, assessments, and risk evaluations, identifying issues and implementation reports, upgrades, and mitigation measures.
- Ensuring all structural activities meet health, safety, environmental and quality requirements through consistent application of standards and controls.
- Collaborating with maintenance, operations and external partners to align designs with operational needs and providing technical support during construction and installation.
- Preparing accurate reports and maintaining organized structural records to support decision-making, continuous improvements, and safe work practices.
Capabilities Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent) and CPEng (Chartered Engineer), with strong applied knowledge of structural design principles, engineering calculations, and relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in structural design analysis, site inspections, condition assessments, and risk evaluations, with practical engineering judgement suited to operational mining environments.
- Demonstrated experience in structural engineering software and technical tools, along with strong reporting and documentation management skills to ensure accuracy, compliance and traceability.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, able to work productively with cross-functional teams by listening, clarifying requirements, and providing clear technical guidance.
- Demonstrating self-awareness, adaptability, and strong safety-first mindset, proactively raising issues, incorporating feedback and contributing to continuous improvement.
