About The Role
In this role, you will guide the organization’s approach to physical security, asset protection, and operational risk mitigation. You will also serve as the company’s senior authority on crisis and emergency preparedness, ensuring we are ready for low‑probability, high‑consequence events.
This is a highly impactful leadership role with enterprise visibility and the chance to influence how we keep our teams safe, supported, and resilient—no matter where we operate.
ResponsibilitiesJob Qualifications
- Operational Security Leadership
- Lead the end‑to‑end security framework for all operations, grounded in local risk profiles and geopolitical realities.
- Ensure all sites maintain current, intelligence‑based security risk assessments that inform operational planning.
- Act as the senior escalation point during security incidents, providing clear guidance to site and executive leaders.
- Build trusted, culturally aware relationships with in‑country personnel, authorities, and community stakeholders.
- Global Security Policy & Governance
- Develop and evolve global security policies, systems, and procedures that safeguard people, property, and information.
- Champion continuous improvement within the corporate security management system, with particular focus on high‑risk jurisdictions.
- Design and oversee audit and assurance programs to validate governance, controls, and compliance.
- Manage external specialists who support threat analysis, independent reviews, or complex investigations.
- Crisis & Emergency Preparedness
- Own the company’s Crisis Management & Emergency Response Framework, ensuring organization‑wide readiness.
- Establish clear escalation thresholds, reporting mechanisms, and decision‑making criteria for crisis situations.
- Lead high‑quality crisis simulation and exercise programs for the Executive Team and operational leaders.
- Maintain governance, communication protocols, and role clarity across corporate, regional, and site levels.
- Serve as a standing member of the Corporate Crisis Management Team during active events.
- Partnership with Health & Safety
- Integrate security-driven intelligence and crisis learnings into H&S programs and major hazard management.
- Partner closely with the Sr. Director, H&S on:
- Incident management and training
- Catastrophic and critical risk management
- Developing capability throughout the organization
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Post secondary education in Mining, Engineering, Finance, Business Management, or a related field.
- 10 plus years of progressive field experience in risk management and security, ideally in global or developing-country environments.
- Deep knowledge of physical security, investigations, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience analyzing and responding to complex, dynamic threat environments.
- Knowledge of relevant local/state/federal laws and regulatory frameworks.
- Professional certifications (CPP, CFE, CAMS, etc.) and memberships in ASIS, ACFE, ACAMS, ISMA, or similar organizations—an asset.
- Proficiency in French—or an interest and aptitude to learn—is an asset.
