Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Engineering Planning Supervisor, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will act as the short‑ and mid‑term planning leader for open pit operations and will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of practical, executable mine plans and forecasts. You will directly supervise the open pit short-term planners, and serves as the primary connection between Technical Services and Surface Operations to support reliable production, cost control, and planning continuity across the Meliadine planning cycle.
- Ensure your own health and safety, as well as that of your colleagues, by using, promoting and documenting work cards and applying the Supervisory Formula principles;
- Lead the delivery of short‑ and mid‑term open pit mine plans, ensuring alignment between weekly execution plans, rolling forecasts, and quarterly planning cycles;
- Directly supervise and coordinate the work of planners and technicians, setting priorities and enabling consistent, high‑quality plan delivery;
- Coordinate and support the preparation of quarterly forecasts and planning inputs, working with Operations and Finance to ensure plans are well understood and achievable;
- Act as the primary interface between Technical Services and Surface Operations, resolving planning and execution issues as they arise;
- Maintain and review open pit designs, drill and blast plans, and execution tie‑ins to support safe and efficient mining;
- Spend regular time in the field validating conditions, identifying risks, and working with crews to improve plan execution.
What You Need To Succeed
- College Diploma or Engineering Degree, in mining or in a related field;
- 5+ years of experience in open pit mining;
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Deswik software.
Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule is one of these two options :
- 7 days of work, followed by 7 days for transportation and rest;
- 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodation and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
