The Detour UG project is an advanced underground exploration project based out of Detour mine project located in Northern Ontario.
Your next challenge:
Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, you will be part of Geology Department – Underground Operations. You will play an important role in performing good geological practices in terms of providing quality geological information to mine operations to optimize the mining and to continuously update geological understanding of the orebody. You will also play an important role in drill hole planning and follow-up, underground mapping, and grade control as well as ensuring compliance with QA-QC best practices. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Manage tasks and projects assigned to the position by the Geology Superintendent
- Map, sample & digitize UG development in ore and waste
- Assist with the management of the UG delineation drilling program; ensure priorities and targets are reached
- Collaborative work to continuously improve geological understanding of the orebody for 3D modelling, MRMR process and stope design/reconciliation purposes
- Ensure follow-up of UG production activities, including bulk samples
- Integrate the geology models into the mine plan
- Ensure a constant evolution of geological understanding of the deposit based on new information gathered with drilling and mapping
- Verify and comment development and stope layouts versus geological knowledge, including identification of ore and waste
- Participate in the Ore tracking exercise for the underground and stockpile material
- Participate in the Stope design processes
- Participate in planning meetings with operations, engineering and other stakeholders
What You Need To Succeed:
- Bachelor degree in Geology or Geological Engineering
- Professional designation (P.Geo.)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in economic & mining geology
- Strong lode gold and structural geology knowledge is considered an asset
- Underground production experience is an asset
- Experience in underground high tonnage mining environment is considered an asset
- Basic Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core equivalent is considered an asset
- Knowledge of Datamine, Deswik, Leapfrog Geo and DHLogger software is considered an asset
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerBI & PowerPoint
- Must be able to work independently and within a team structure
- Works well in fast-paced environment
- Ability to effectively prioritize job duties
- Interest and/or experience in mine rescue is considered an asset
Note that the official working language at Detour is English.
Your Work Schedule:
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter buses and flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada
