Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. About The Role

Position Reports To: Exploration Manager
Role Overview
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Exploration GIT is responsible for core logging and sampling, as well as field mapping and prospecting activities. The role will work in close collaboration with the senior and project geologists to ensure all geological data is accurate and that the drilling activities are executed in a safe manner. The candidate is expected to use its geological knowledge to contribute to geological interpretation and to drill program planning.
Responsibilities
- Core logging and sampling for the near mine and regional diamond drilling programs.
- Ensure the sampling QAQC protocols are followed and monitor QAQC results.
- Assist with the regional exploration programs, including but not limited to, geological mapping, soil sampling, core logging, and evaluation of results.
- Assist with RC drilling program in a pit environment, including but not limited to, picking up samples, survey collar point, contractor management and sample shipment.
- Contribute to the local and regional geological interpretation and to drill hole planning.
- Monitor database integrity and ensure all logging data and other field data are properly integrated.
- Assist with supervision of field drilling activities and ensuring the contractors are compliant with Rainy River H&S policies.
- Other related duties to support the Exploration team as required.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Science
- Registered or eligible to register as a geologist-in-training in Ontario, Canada
- Previous exposure to Exploration environment, 1 year of professional experience is an asset
- Valid Driver’s license
- Good computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Competence in Leapfrog and ArcGIS is an asset
- Good writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently or within groups
- A demonstrated commitment to safety, environment, and community
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $80,000.00 - $90,000.00.
