Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About The Role
Position: Mill Operations Supervisor
Schedule: Shift 14/14 – 12 hour days
Position Reports To: Mill Superintendent
Position Overview
Reporting to Mill Superintendent, the role of a Mill Operations Supervisor is to supervise the Mill Operations team, ensuring that all milling production targets and schedules are met as forecast. Ensure all mill activities are performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures that mill processing and production targets are met as forecast.
- Informs the mill team of production goals, schedules and priorities.
- Establishes, coordinates and directs all work assignments for hourly and contract workers.
- Works closely with the maintenance department to plan and execute day-to-day maintenance activities.
- Works closely with the metallurgical / assay departments to ensure samples are collected and prepared to maximize efficiency of the mill.
- Ensures operating parameters are followed to minimize use of reagents and maximize gold / silver recovery.
- Ensures all health, safety, environmental regulations are complied with.
- Works closely with the mill trainer to maximize training and development for mill staff
- Assists in the development of SOP’s
- Be proactive in the development and use of New Gold’s safety system.
- Supervises the Mill team.
- Takes an active role in the employment and development of the mill staff.
- Ensures effective management of staff by setting clear performance goals, providing regular feedback and development through training.
- Ensures direct reports are developed, trained and coached to obtain optimum efficiencies.
- Ensures there is the necessary manpower and equipment available to meet production targets.
- Ensures direct reports are assisted to achieve their full potential.
- Resolves any employee relations issues that may arise.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- 10 years of milling experience, preferably in gold milling.
- 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong communication and supervisory skills.
- Ability to lead teams.
- Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to prepare accurate records and reports.
- Good oral and written communication skills with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
- Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Programs.
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $140,000 to $153,00 0.
