The Opportunity
NPL is seeking Expressions of Interest across opportunities in our Inventory team as part of the broader Supply & Business Services Department. These roles play a critical part in ensuring the effective planning, management, and optimization of inventory to support continuous mining operations while minimizing cost, risk, and waste.
We are seeking expressions of interest in the following roles:
- Superintendent – Inventory
- Specialist – Planning, Inventory
- Specialist – Technical, Inventory
- Supervisor, Senior – Inventory
Applicants may nominate one or more roles they wish to be considered for.
About The Team
The Inventory team is responsible for developing and implementing appropriate strategies, systems, and policies to optimize stock levels across multiple sites and warehouses across PNG, liaising closely with our Logistics providers to ensure timely supply.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Developing and executing inventory planning strategies to minimize stock-outs, excess, and obsolete inventory
- Providing technical support and guidance to Maintenance and Operations teams, including part identification, availability, and procurement lead times to reduce equipment downtime
- Maintaining accurate and compliant inventory records, including item descriptions, stock levels, locations, and movement history using ERP and inventory management systems
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders such as Procurement, Logistics, Operations, and Finance to forecast demand, plan replenishment, and optimize inventory turnover
- Managing suppliers and systems while supporting stakeholders to comply with NPL purchasing policies and procedures
About You
To be successful in these roles, you will ideally have:
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline ideally within mining/oil & gas, heavy industry.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in inventory, supply chain, or sourcing roles. Team leadership experience is required for the Superintendent role.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP, Ariba, ERP systems, and inventory management software.
- Proven ability to analyze data, generate reports, and make data-driven decisions utilizing Excel and PowerBI.
- Strong leadership capability with a ‘One Team’ mindset.
- High energy, with a detailed, hands-on management style and desire to continuously improve you and your team’s knowledge and systems and methods of work.
- Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with NPL policy and procedures.

Mobilization Requirement
- This is a PNG National Staff opportunity
- Roles are site-based, operating on a FIFO roster (21 days on / 14 days off)
- Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening, and provide a valid Police Clearance Certificate (within 6 months)
- Pre-employment checks will be arranged for candidates who progress beyond the interview stage
