Senior Officer, Buyer
The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To qualify suppliers, evaluate bids, and purchase materials, supplies and services at the most favourable terms for the organization. The incumbent tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, maintains a current database of supplier information and supervises the work of Buyers and an Assistant
You will have the following:
- Must have a Diploma or Degree in Procurement/ Supply Chain / Finance
- At least 8 years as a Buyer in a mining / manufacturing / engineering environment with 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered highly advantageous.
Technical Skills should include:
- Procurement systems
- MS Office, ERP (JDE)
- Basic understanding of import / export legislation and BV inspections

- Supply Chain terminology and value chain – especially procurement from start to finish
- Commercial acumen
- Knowledge of engineering / mining / manufacturing material

- Procure goods at the best quality and price in the shortest lead time
- Liaise with suppliers to procure materials, services and supplies
- Collaborate and coordinate with Logistics and Warehouse
- Collaborate and coordinate with Finance department to follow up on supplier payments
- Function as a subject matter expert
- Stakeholder management- Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
- People - Manage a division that builds people, values difference and creates an inclusive work environment
- Finance - Monitor costs or expenses to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste
