Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Mill Operation Superintendent, the Assistant Mill Operations Superintendent ensures that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment. You will establish our operations programs to ensure the achievement of project and production goals in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
- Support and lead daily mill operations, promoting a strong safety culture and operational excellence;
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee process plant activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production;
- Monitor and improve performance across safety, productivity, costs, and KPIs;
- Execute short- and long-term operational plans, ensuring readiness to meet production schedules;
- Collaborate across departments and with contractors to achieve production targets, quality standards, and optimization goals;
- Analyze production results, identify variances, and implement continuous improvement initiatives;
- Manage plant processes, personnel, and resources to maximize efficiency and meet budget objectives;
- Supervise, coach, and develop staff; oversee workforce planning, scheduling, and training programs;
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations; lead risk management initiatives;
- Support and manage operating and capital budgets, cost control, forecasting, and financial performance;
- Oversee operations department coordination with the maintenance and surface departments;
- Lead or support safety investigations and ensure accurate, timely reporting (daily, weekly, monthly);
- Drive operational improvements and project execution to enhance plant performance and profitability;
- Develop operational strategies and multi-year plans aligned with corporate KPIs and reliability frameworks;
- Liaise with OEMs and vendors to implement best practices and improve equipment performance;
- Actively support and execute priorities and initiatives assigned by the Mill Superintendent;
- Review, critically analyze, prioritize & authorize purchase requests and Application for Expenditure (AFEs) through the site management system;
- Focus on developing a skilled and motivated Operations workforce through support of appropriate training, open communication, involvement and performance feedback;
- With General Supervisor and Supervisors, oversee the effective management of rosters, leave, operational coverage, interactions and professional development within your department;
- Contribution to all relevant reporting including weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and statistics;
- Work with the safety department to ensure policies are implemented and adopted by staff and Contractors under your supervision;
- Develop and implement the Mill operation strategies for all process plant equipment,
- Lead by example and encourage adherence to Agnico Eagle’s Health and Safety Code of Conduct;
- Train under the guidance of the mill operation superintendent to take on further responsibilities & accountabilities at the Macassa & Upper Beaver mills.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor's degree in metallurgy, process engineering or related discipline, with 8 years of experience in milling operations;
- Leadership as well as interpersonal, organizational, communication and conflict resolution skills;
- Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude;
- Able to develop and foster a lean, efficient and dynamic team environment;
- Thorough working knowledge and understanding of efficient ore processing practices, procedures and regulations;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
- At least 5 years in a gold processing environment;
- Previous 3 years’ experience in Senior Supervisory role/s;
- Developed leadership, decision making, and management skills;
- JDE working knowledge is considered an asset;
- Strong organizational, analytical and project management skills;
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex operations issues.
Work Schedule
- 4/3 or 5/2 schedule at our Macassa mine site, located in Kirkland Lake, ON.
