Job Purpose
To provide a strategic engineering focus on equipment automation systems in order to maximize machinery uptime and improve material throughput by assessing the capabilities of the equipment, identifying potential control system failure modes, and identifying and implementing optimal equipment control strategies. This includes activities used to select and apply the most appropriate control system algorithms and control strategies by applying Ma’aden approved control code and concepts. The goal of the automation engineer is to maintain, monitor and modify the process control systems to insure the equipment and processes continue to deliver their intended capabilities in the safest and most cost-effective manner for the business.
Description
Process control system support:
• Knowledge and understanding of diagnostics instruments.
• Interpret P&ID, single line, network, and instrument drawings.
• Experience and understanding of Variable speed drives.
• Experience and understanding of network connected variable speed drives.
• Experience and understanding of motion control systems and robots.
• Demonstrate an understanding of IP connected instruments.
• Interpret PLC ladder logic, function block and structured text programming methods.
• Interpret functional description specifications.
• Analysis of historical data from various repositories.
• Use of advanced analysis tools.
• Follow disaster recovery procedures to restore process control systems devices and data.
• Shall able to work in different shift group for supporting plant operation.
Process control system networks:
• Understanding of various plant control system networks.
• Understand industrial Ethernet network topologies.
• Understanding of device level ring topologies.
• Understand serial communications protocols.
• Support and diagnose process control system networks.
• Remove and replace network components.
Failure Mode & Reliability Engineering Analysis:
- Assist in the identification of strategies to eliminate repetitive and major failures.
- Assist in process of determining ROOT CAUSE (RCA) equipment failures and provide recommendations for elimination.
- Assist and/or facilitate FAILURE MODES, EFFECTS & CAUSES ANALYSIS (FMEA) for critical equipment, identifying specific failure modes and corrective actions
- Develops and implements specific recommendations based on failure data analysis to REDUCE FAILURES (increased MTBF) and REDUCE TURNAROUND TIME (reduced MTTR).
Environment Health & Safety
- Contributes to the achievement of an environmentally sound, safe and healthy workplace by monitoring and auditing the design, installation and maintenance of equipment and systems to comply with all standards and regulations.
- Performs system and equipment integrity inspections.
- Supports the operation’s EH&S initiatives and communicates with contractors and vendors on compliance with EH&S policy, procedures and standards.
Participates in equipment change projects (reliability, maintenance or capital) design and EH&S reviews as an asset owners representative.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, Electronic engineering or Mechatronics.
Minimum of 05 years relevant experience, as a Process Engineer or a Technical Expert.
• Must possess an clear understand of the safety consideration required for automation engineers working with molten metal control systems
• Must possess a clear and demonstrable understanding of Rockwell Automation Contrologix PLC Platform.
• Must possess a clear and demonstrable understanding of Rockwell Automation Factory Talk View SE and ME applications.
• Must demonstrate the ability to work alone, or in a team environment. Must be self Motivated.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Computer skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Oracle.
• Working knowledge of industrial statistics and statistical process control.
