Planned Exxaro strike off but union will show ‘no mercy’
A strike of about 7,000 workers over jobs cuts at miner Exxaro due to start on Monday has been postponed, South Africa’s National Union of Mineworkers said in a statement on Sunday.
Exxaro, which mines for coal, zinc and mineral sands, obtained a court interdict on Friday to prevent the work stoppage on Monday but the union has vowed to pursue legal action to go ahead with the strike at a later date.
