SGS announced multi-service laboratory in Greater Vancouver area

SGS will expand and consolidate its Greater Vancouver operations into a multi-service laboratory in the City of Burnaby, British Columbia.  The new 63,000 square foot laboratory will merge three of the existing SGS facilities in the Greater Vancouver area. It is anticipated that the laboratory will open in April 2012.  Current SGS service offerings and offices in this area will remain operational until opening of the new facility.

The multi-service laboratory will house SGS’ Minerals and Agriculture business lines and form a key part of the extensive SGS global network of laboratories. The latest analytical techniques and equipment, to enhance operational efficiencies and to provide clients with the most reliable services, will be incorporated into the new facility. The wide range of Minerals services that will be unified include geochemical analysis, orebody modeling and resource estimation, bankable metallurgical testing, fertilizer analysis, High Density Sludge process, environmental sustainability and trade support.  Agriculture services that will be provided include food analysis, determination of pesticide residues and undesirable substances and field inspection. The comprehensive service offerings of these business lines showcase SGS’ technical excellence and depth of expertise.

The state-of-the-art facility will increase SGS’ local capabilities and increase the client’s speed-to-market.  Located a short distance from the SkyTrain, the facility easily sustains client and employee access in accord with SGS’ sustainability program.  SGS’ continuing commitment to health, safety, and the environment is absolute and is, at all times, an integral part of the culture of all SGS offices and laboratories.
