AngloGold: Sit-in at Mponeng mine resolved

AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. announced today that a sit-in at its Mponeng mine in Carletonville, in which some 120 of a total of 6,000 workers participated, was resolved in the early afternoon on Thursday.

Stewart Bailey, Senior VP of Investor Relations, said, “Everybody has now returned to surface. They wanted to speak to senior management, and management has spoken to them. The situation was very efficiently resolved.”

Bailey noted that further details regarding the demonstration, including the motive behind it, are still emerging.
