Asia-Pacific Market Update from Virotec Global Solutions
Virotec continues to experience growth with large environmental remediation projects conducted in the Asia-Pacific region.
In late 2012, Virotec completed an upgrade of Colgate-Palmolive’s manufacturing facility in Lae, Papua New Guinea. The upgrade, which continues a long-standing association with Colgate-Palmolive, included the installation of a ViroFlow Technology wastewater treatment facility, with chemical dosing and sludge removal functionality. The upgrade makes a substantial improvement to the quality of the facility’s wastewater system, and ensures ongoing compliance with wastewater discharge standards for the region. The new plant upgrade therefore represents a significant step towards ‘best practice environmental management’ by Colgate-Palmolive in Papua New Guinea.
Virotec has commenced remediation trials for X-Energy, also situated in PNG. X-Energy, who has been contracted by a large multi-national oil and gas company, are trialing the implementation of Virotec’s ViroSoil Technology. The trial is for the treatment of hydrocarbon contamination in soil and the trials are already showing positive results.
Across to Fiji and Virotec continues to provide tailings wastewater solutions for Vatoukoula Gold Mine. A recent visit was conducted by Virotec staff to further improve the on-site treatment of various waste streams at the mine.
Whilst in the Philippines, Virotec continues its long-standing strategic partnership with JM Ecotech, Philippines largest waste treatment company, which distributes Virotec’s technologies throughout the country.
