For 50 years, RWE engineers have been advising industrial customers around the world
50 years ago, the Rheinbraun Mining Consulting GmbH was founded in Cologne. Since then, engineers and technicians from the RWE Group have travelled to many countries around the world to support mining and power generation companies. Now, engineering services for companies in the raw materials and energy business are being combined in RWE Technology International. This company will be founded from RE GmbH and RWE Technology GmbH on 1 July and will be based in Essen.
Whether the client is planning an open-pit mine in Thailand or the logistics for a copper mine in Chile; whether the task relates to the future of energy in the post-oil era in Dubai or to a blast furnace gas power plant in Europe: RWE’s engineers can draw on the wealth of experience the group has accumulated with its own facilities and projects over the decades.
When consulting activities began in 1965, the focus was on the continuous open-pit mining systems in Germany that had been used in the Rhine area since time immemorial. And in recent times, many foreign mining operations have been interested in precisely this proven technology. RWE Technology International also provides valuable help for power plants: These plants benefit from RWE’s experience with major construction projects within the group, such as BoA 2 & 3 in Grevenbroich, Eemshaven in the Netherlands, Pembroke and Staythorpe in England and Denizli in Turkey.
“We focus one hundred per cent on the customers and the solutions that we develop for and with them. In addition to many international companies, of course, our customers also include companies within the RWE Group”, explains Ingo Birnkraut, Managing Director of RWE Technology GmbH. His colleague Wim Tjerkstra adds: “The world needs energy and raw materials. The companies involved need the technology and expertise to tap into these resources. Our engineers, technicians and commercial staff are available for these companies and organisations.”
“RWE is technology. RWE has highly qualified engineers. Why should companies reinvent the wheel when they can draw on RWE’s knowledge?” said RWE Generation CEO Matthias Hartung. “Our engineering services have the potential to grow. With RWE expertise at their back and with the experienced RWE advisers by their side, many customers in the world will be successful with their energy projects in the future.”
