GeoProMining Provides Internship for Students

18 September 2013, Moscow – GeoProMining, a diversified international mining group (GPM or the Company), organized an internship programme for students from the Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University (Yakutsk) at its Sarylakh-Surma production complex in Yakutia.

The Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University, one of the nine major universities in Russia, is particularly famous for its graduates in metals and mining disciplines. A group of mining faculty students were offered a six-weeks internship at GPM’s Ust-Nera-based company. Following a detailed industrial safety training the interns practiced how to use and maintain mining equipment under the close guidance of experienced mentors – leading specialists of Sarylakh-Surma.

The university was responsible for the preparation stage – medical inspection and safety instructions. Together with the university the Sarylakh-Surma management developed an internship plan to give the students an in-depth understanding of the profession they have chosen.  The company provided overalls and individual protection means, as well as arranged accommodation in Ust-Nera for the internship period. The interns got not only practice but also compensation.

This is not the first internship programme at Sarylakh-Surma and we plan to continue this tradition. GeoProMining runs two assets in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia): the Sarylakh-Surma production complex, which consists of the Sarylakh mine and a processing plant; and Zvezda, which develops the Sentachan gold and antimony deposit.
