India’s Hindustan Zinc Ltd refinery joins LBMA’s silver standard

April 16 (Reuters) — The London Bullion Market Association on Monday said it has added Hindustan Zinc Ltd.’s (HZL) silver refinery in India to its 82-strong ‘Good Delivery List’, a leading benchmark for silver bar quality.

“HZL has satisfied the LBMA as to its ownership, history, production capability and financial standing. It has also passed the LBMA’s exhaustive testing procedures, under which its silver bars were examined and assayed by independent referees, and its own assaying capabilities were tested,” the LBMA said in a statement on its website.

The main source of feedstock for the refinery, located in Pantnagar, in the state of Uttarakhand, is refinery mud and high grade metal from its operations in Rajasthan, the LBMA said.
