Osprey Informatics closes $1.2 million series a funding round led by U.S. investment firm

Calgary, AB, Canada – June 9, 2015 – Osprey Informatics (“Osprey”), a company that develops and provides cloud-based intelligent visual monitoring solutions, announced today that it closed CAD $1.2 million in series A funding. The round was led by Anzu Partners, an investment firm based in Washington, DC, with participation from existing investors. With this latest investment, the company has raised a total of CAD $4 million. Osprey will use the funding for sales expansion and to develop the next generation of Osprey Reach, its visual monitoring platform.

Leveraging Osprey’s computer vision technology, the Osprey Reach platform analyzes visual data from mobile or fixed cameras. It also pulls in information from a range of sensors and enterprise data systems. The platform integrates this data to provide operational insights to enterprises and, more generally, a visual layer for the Industrial Internet of Things.

Osprey’s customers include more than twenty North American energy companies. These organizations use Osprey Reach to remotely inspect facilities and equipment, monitor site activity, optimize labor productivity, and ultimately increase operational efficiency.

“We believe that Osprey’s ability to go beyond traditional surveillance and focus on operational efficiency will make it an essential tool for industry,” said Whitney Haring-Smith, Managing Partner at Anzu Partners. “As more industrial enterprises work to respond to lower commodity prices, the Osprey solution quickly and sustainably reduces costs and expands margins.” As part of the investment, Mr. Haring-Smith will be joining the Board of Directors.

“Our customers have proven the economic value of Osprey Reach for remotely managing industrial operations,” said Michael von Hauff, Osprey’s co-founder and CEO. “This funding will allow us to expand our customer footprint in North American industrial markets, while continuing to innovate with the Osprey Reach platform. We look forward to working with the team at Anzu Partners.”

Osprey is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta with offices in Washington DC. For more information, visit www.ospreyinformatics.com.
