Abstract – Petroleum and Mining Law in Africa
The exploitation of natural resources in Africa represents a major challenge. The African continent, which remains largely unexplored, contains a large part of worldwide natural resources. The current context characterized by a fluctuation of commodities prices does not reduce the growing interest in Africa and its extractive sector.
This book analyses the mining and petroleum laws in African countries and includes an assessment of contractual aspects applicable to oil & gas and mining operations. The innovative interest of this book is to provide a detailed and current analysis of mining and petroleum laws applicable to the upstream sector in Africa. It focuses on all the mining and petroleum laws and especially the texts recently enacted in a constantly changing environment.
This publication is dedicated to all practitioners developing their activity to the oil & gas and mining sectors in Africa.
“This volume is among those which want to give African law its true place, that which places it at the avant-garde of normative production because the tools which have been created are innovative. It will be a benchmark work on our libraries’ shelves that will most often be found on the desk of all those interested in oil and mining law, as it from now on forms an essential point of transit in discussions on these issues.” Yves Nouvel, Professor at Pantheon-Assas University
