The Quantex Technology allows savings of up to 30% on the total cost of rock fragmentation

Toronto – Canada, March 7, 2016 – In September 2014, EXSA S.A., a Peruvian company leading in rock fragmentation solutions for mining and infrastructure, announced the launch of Quantex Technology, a new solution that provides substantial savings in the total cost of rock fragmentation for open pit mining and construction.

After being applied in leading mining projects in Peru, the results show that the use of Quantex Technology can produce savings of up to 30% in the total cost of rock fragmentation. This is thanks to the direct financial savings in the acquisition cost of the main materials for blasting and also to the operating savings due to an increase in the efficiency of the process. In addition to this, the technology has also achieved good environmental results, by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) by 18%.

During the PDAC 2016, the world’s largest mineral and mining event, Karl Maslo, Regional CEO of EXSA said: “the Quantex Technology is the most competitive solution in rock fragmentation that allows good financial, technical and environmental results”. As an example, one of our main customers, who made the decision to migrate to the Quantex Technology, has reduced by 23% the total cost of rock fragmentation. This represents annual savings of more than US $ 16 million”.

The Quantex Technology marks an evolution in the rock fragmentation market, by avoiding completely the use of traditional Porous Ammonium Nitrate, thereby giving significant savings to customers in both material procurement and operating costs.

The Quantex Technology was developed entirely in Peru. In just one year, the Quantex Technology has captured 40% of the total market in Peruvian open pit mining and is being used in the top mining projects there. It should be noted that in September 2015, the Quantex Technology was granted an international patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
